LIS1002: Introduction to Electronic Access to Information
LIS1002 is a one credit blended course at IRSC. There is a required meeting for one full day of lecture and in-class assignments on a Saturday from 8am-4pm. Students then have a final assignment to complete after the in-class period due a week after the class meeting.
All the librarians at IRSC teach this course; the structure and content may vary by instructor so ask for details from your assigned instructor.
The overall objective of the course is to teach students how to find, evaluate, and ethically use information found in the library or on the Internet. The in-class assignments for my course are published to the Internet and you can see past student work here: http://www.irsc.libguides.com/socialmediafacebook
Assignments and examples vary by semester since I use current topics to illustrate how you would evaluate the information you encounter on a daily basis.
